From Rancho Mirage, straight down Frank Sinatra, a right on Bob Hope, across Gerald Ford, right on Dinah Shore to I-10, fork onto Route 111, pass Mecca, and, voila, you have arrived at the Salton Sea.
This sea, actually a large lake, is the story of what was, what is, and what will be.
Once a thriving resort, the "sea" is now so salinated, precious little within or around it can survive.
Alas, the apocalypse came early to Salton City.
