CITY LIGHTS (STILL SHINE)
Once upon a time, a very astute and imaginative poet named Lawrence Ferlinghetti created a far-out bookstore in North Beach that became home to the Beats.
Kerouac and Ginsburg may have, in their time, transcended their faithful patron and promoter. But Ferlinghetti's literary reputation may eventually eclipse those he hosted.
Ferlinghetti lives (he's 100 years-old, bless him) and so does his iconic creation.
While big book chains (think Borders, corporate mentality) turn to dust, City Lights keeps on keeping on.
And the lights of this city continue to brighten many a mind.

AMAZING GRACE
Although I've been to San Fran a handful of times over the past ten years, this amazing cathedral, called Grace, somehow eluded me.
Or perhaps I wasn't ready for it.
Till now.
