'TWAS THE NIGHT AFTER NEW YEAR...

..,and all through the saloon,

Not a creature was stirring, not even a loon.

The bottles were glistening beneath bar-back lights,

Awaiting folks wishing to soar to great heights.

But no one was coming, they had one day before,

Resolved to stay dry, never drink evermore.

The bartender said, "It lasts a full week, all will rebound,

Thirstier than before, these bottles, they'll pound."

Moral: No one knows New Year resolutions better than a barkeep.

And this: If you drink in moderation, nothing to resolve.
